About us

Our activities

At Ducklings, we use the Early Years Foundation Stage (2012), a government framework designed to guide practice with children aged from birth to the end of their reception year at school. The EYFS specifies requirements for learning and development, safeguarding children and promoting their welfare.

We encourage a balance of adult-led and freely chosen or child-initiated activities, involving both indoor and outdoor play.

Children learn through purposeful play and our skilled staff build close relationships with the children and their families to determine what stages the children have reached and what their interests are, so that we can plan effectively for each individual child.

Daily experiences will include a variety of play, such as books and stories, music and singing, number skills and early literacy, painting and sticking, physical play, dressing up, jigsaws, sand and water, dough play, building blocks, farm sets, train sets, dolls, puppets, role play and so on.

We also have regular sessions led by visiting teachers for French, Theatre Train and football.
